Anyone Make a Good 209 Capper?
Still looking for a decent 209 capper for my big hands. Its a bit of a pain trying to insert a 209 primer on my inline 50 by handin the field and was wondering if anyone made a 209 capper that actually worked well.
It would be nice if someone made 209 primersthat weren't so darn corrosive, too (just started using 777 and I like it a lot). Thanks- |
RE: Anyone Make a Good 209 Capper?
You can get a Tedd Cash straight line capper at several places including Cabelas.
![]() Just replace thatfunky spring on the end with a key ring. Works with any inline I've encountered. |
RE: Anyone Make a Good 209 Capper?
TC makes a real nice one that works like an injecton needel. You load them in and push one out at a time its great especially for scoped inlines. And its under $10.00

RE: Anyone Make a Good 209 Capper?
I have both one for the System one and Thunderhawk the other [the new TC injection type] for the Omega both are excellant for the type gun they are designed for. They are not interchangeable, you need the right type for your gun. Lee

Yeah.. I forgot to mention that... I do use the Omega w/ the falling block... and the injection type works excellent for these... but if you have an enclosed breech like a bolt action style.. then it prolly wouldn't work very well.

RE: Anyone Make a Good 209 Capper?
I have a TC Black Diamond XR and it has a semi-closed breech which is why it isn't the fqstest loader on the market. The Ted Cash one looks like a winner though.
Anyone use a 209 primer that doesn't foul the breech badly? |

![]() This is my favorite. It is a Thompson Center Dog Bone Capper. It holds ten primers and holds on to them real easy. All you do is reach in, slip the primer in place and pull back on the dog bone a little and the primer slips right out. |
RE: Anyone Make a Good 209 Capper?
Think the degree of fouling you are seeing isn't all due to the primer. Word is the new Winchester m/l primers are pretty clean. Haven't seen or used any of them myself.

RE: Anyone Make a Good 209 Capper?
I'm using the Winchester 209 primers in the gray package.

RE: Anyone Make a Good 209 Capper?
That dog bone capper works great on my Black Diamond XR. And the price of them is right too...
I use the Winchester W209 in the blue package. Those Winchester WML209 in the gray package blew the retaining spring right off my Black Diamond. No way will I use them again. The Remington Kleenbore also work excellent. When I shoot pellets I use the Winchester. |
RE: Anyone Make a Good 209 Capper?
Thanks Cayugad, I'm going to get a dogbone and a Cash capper and see which one I like best.
Who sells the 209's in the blue package? I'm kinda limited to Wally World in these parts. I'll say this much, the gray ones probably wouldignite wet powder. ![]() |
RE: Anyone Make a Good 209 Capper?
I get them at our Wal Mart and at a small sporting good store where they really make you pay. Also our Wal Mart carries the Remington Kleenbore Primers. When the end of the season sale hits, I buy them out...

Ibought the new TC injection type from cabelasand love it.
Get it here http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/product/standard-item.jsp?id=0033463215896a&navCount=3&podI d=0033463&parentId=cat20819&navAction=jump &cmCat=MainCatcat20712&catalogCode=IG& rid=&parentType=index&indexId=cat20819& ;hasJS=true I also have a Winchester brandand it has a primer remover built in if one should get stuck. I got it at Cabelas. You slide the little button to the right on the bottom an the metal primer remover extends. It works well too.
