The 58cal is also perfect for any big game in North America. Even the 54cal is good. I think I want a 58cal or a 62cal.

Both are good choices for elk.

After you start shooting your 58, you will want a 62, then a..........and a.......................it never ends.:)

I just bought a new .62 Colerain barrel, 32" swamped, it should make a dandy Mountain Rifle for Elk and Mule Deer.

Some day, I will own a .58, some how I missed that one.

I have had everything from 36 to 69 and for a round ball for theUS and CanadaI decieded on a 54cal. the combination of a 36 to 42 inch barrel and a 1-66 to a 1-80 twist usually finding a load 120 to 140 gr gives a nice combination of range and killing power that has never failed me. Of course the fact that I build and proof my own guns gives me a slight advantage or at least I feel it does. Lee
