Ultra Mag parts
 

Got my parts from Doc today in the mail. I really am thinking the new 209 breech plug/nipple is or will be better than the original plug. It designed much more conventional, I do need to take UC's suggestion and polish the primer pocket.

It looks like I will doing a late season Moose hunt. Because of the weather and the temperatures that are possible during this season. It is a rifle hunt, but I really want to use a ML. Because of the timing of the hunt I really want to use a 209 ignition. But, I can see as Doc suggest that this system is not as water tight as the #11. Even though the primer will survive water - if enough water were exposed to the breech I might be possible to get water into thecharge. Again I am not all that worried as I can seal the breech system. I really am leaning to using the Ultra Mag.... but it is really is a curse to have what I BELIEVE are five great inline ML's. Decisions.... Decisions.... darn

I think your rifle choice would depend on what you want to shoot for a projectile... If big lead in the ticket then the Ultra Mag is the easy choice. If a sabot combination is in order, then you have some of the best choices on hand... Moose are tuff. I hunted them with centerfire and that was still a thrill. A muzzleloader would be fantastic.

Underclocked or Cayugad, I tried to buy a White yesterday from Sportsmans Warehouse in Provo Utah. They told me they couldn't ship it to me. I live in North Carolina

That is strange: 2 things does NC have a rule that will not allow a ML gun to go to you or the guy didn't know how..

try the store in Twin Falls, Phoenix, or Tuscon they have been shipping them quite regularly...

Sabotloader, you may be right there probably is some sort of restriction on that..I will contact the other stores and find out if they ship or not. The price was incredible.

Just checked with Cabelas and they have no restrictions on shipping BP guns to NC..must have been the store.

UNderclocked ..I probably did..soon as I get out of work today I have the phone numbers of the three stores and will make calls. The fellow in Provo told me he had a SS with a laminated stock and it came with 2 breech plugs and 3 nipples. Is this correct? Selling price was 299

Not exactly - it should come with a 209 breech plug installed as well as a bolt designed for primer use. Also, there should be a #11 breech plug, a musket breech plug, an extra bolt to use with the cap plugs, a breech plug tool, hex wrench, 209 tool, sample bullets (20), owners manual, and all should be shipped in a plastic hard case.

The breech plugs are (11 ) integrated units, no separate nipple. A 3/8" socket on a quarter inch extension/ratchetworks better than the factory tube-type tool. (Musket )

My preference for use is the #11 plug and cap bolt.

So.... 3 plugs, 2 bolts, 20 bullets, manual, tools, case. :)
