new sights?
I just recently replaced my sights on my T/C Flintlock & while at the range I shot 5 shots at thetarget at 25 yards. The round ball while using90 grains was 4 inches high. At 50 yards the round was at least 7 inches high.
M question is do I move the rear sight (Tru-glow) down the ramp towards the muzzle or the other way. Due to the amount of rifle shooters using the rangeit was a pain in the azz to checkmy target. I will get back there next week to re sight in. Thanks Joe |
RE: new sights?
Let me think.. you move the rear sight in the direction you want the bullet to travel. So if you're hitting high, then you want to move the rear sight down the incline. On most T/C sights it is marked up or down... at least on the newer ones.

RE: new sights?
Hi Joe, always move your rear sight in the direction you want the shot to hit. For example your rifle is shooting hight so lower the rear sight. I would do it gradually shooting a couple of groups between adjustments.
Good luck!! |
RE: new sights?
The rule of thumb is for up and down the point of impact will move the same direction as the Rearsight; for side to side it moves the opposite direction. Lee

RE: new sights?
You would be right Lee if he had to move the front sight but he said he had a T/C and you can adjust windage on the rear sight as well. So he can do the same for left to right. If the rifle is shooting to the left adjust the sight to the right. For other rifles that you need to drift the front sight from side to side you do have to drift to the same direction.
It is hard to do as well lol owning old military guns make you think twice about how good we have it today. |
RE: new sights?
Move the rear sight in the direction you want to shoot. If you want to shoot more to the left, move it left. if you want to shoot lower, move it lower. Move your front sight in the opposit direction you want to shoot. If you want to shoot more to the left, move it right. If you want it to shoot higher, file it down, or get a lower front sight.

RE: new sights?
you are all right.good job, guys. here is what i do first.i make sure the FRONT sight is where i want it.then i adjust the rear sight.i seen friends shooting and their rear sight was as far to left /right as it would go.if you are moving rear sight to far either way then its time to center front sight then start over on rear.yes, front moves OPPOSITE way then rear ans bullet impact.
