First Use of Triple Se7en
Went to the range Saturday morning. Weather was beautiful: almost 50 degrees, sunny, just a littlebreezy from right to left.
This was my first use of T7 - I was really looking forward to how it performed. The week before, I had zero'd my rifle with 2 - 50 gr Pyrodex pellets and 260 gr .451 Speer JHP's and Crush Rib sabots. I started with 80 gr T7 and they printed a little low and left. Moved the scope to the right and bumped up to 85 gr T7 - supposedly equal to 100 gr Pyrodex. They printed a bit high and a little right, but ok for a breezy day. Tried the 300 gr Speer JSP, and they printed almost exactly the same. After just doing some shooting, I fired two 3-shot groups "for record" - that is, to show you guys. This rifle (BPI Beartooth) is printing 1 1/2 to 2" groups on a breezy day with ME behind the trigger - I'm a happy camper! Just for fun, I also shot three 265 gr .475 bullets from Hawk Precision, and they landed high and left, and were 4-5" apart! Only thing I can figure is that the shorter bullet might require more speed to stabilize them. I don't think I'll be using them any more. Four other observationsabout the T7: (1) My hand were less than half as dirty for the same amount of shooting (2) the perceived recoil was less than with Pyrodex (3) I forgot to use sabotloaders teflon tape trick on the breechplug, but it came out without a lot of trouble, just feeling a little "gummy" for the first full turn (4) cleanup was really easy! ![]() |
RE: First Use of Triple Se7en
Welcome to the world of Triple Se7en one of the best sustitutes made. Accuracy wise I would say the best. I am not too keen on it with roundballs except in my Norincos where it works roundball real well. The 3F works well in my 1858 revolver as well.

Looks like you got it just about where you want it.
From the looks of the target you must of really had some fun. I shot up all my 777 so I got some APP. I like the way it shoots in my Omega but I like more the way it cleans up. And the accuracy is good too. We have had 4 days of severe weather about 6" of rain. It is supposed to be decent this coming Saturday so I'm going to try & shoot some. Will post results later. Good shooting my friend & God Bless Danny |
