Jim Shockey Gold: Pretty speedy stuff

I finally got my chronograph back after accidently hitting it with a sabot last month. It was too windy to shoot groups today, but I tried some of the loads that shot well last time around. Put a brick in front of the display screen this time :)

200 Gr. Shockwave 110 gr. 3F JSG CCI musket cap 2314 fps avg.

250 Gr. Shockwave 130 gr. 2F JSG CCI musket cap 2278 fps avg.

Average of three shots. 48 degrees. 6450' elevation.

This isfairly speedy propellant. Groups pretty good too.

that has some real power to it. Kind of impressive speeds there.

Well, I paid $20.50 per pound. This was from another dealer. Don't really know if she gave me a deal or not. I would suspect so. Usually does.

Cleaned the rifle tonight. Wow. Not much there. Kind of a light biege dust. According to the literature, there is no sulphur in this stuff. I talked to one of their reps a few weeks back and they are saying, while it is ideal to clean the weapon as soon as possible after each shooting session; there is no where near the level of expediency that one would normally associate with sulfur based powders.

I've been looking for Black Mag 3 for over a year now. Not sure I really care at this point. Unless some downside to this JSG raises its ugly head, I'm going to stick with this stuff.

Both of those speeds are faster with a heavier bullet than the 30-30. Has your chrono been calibrated lately?

What diameter bullet is the 200g Shockwave we need a minimume of .40cal here in NH.

It is a .40 caliber. I also called the Colorado Division of Wildlife law enforcement unit in Denver last week. They confirmed that, while sabots aren't legal during the regular MZ season, any .50 caliber rifle that shoots a bullet of 170 grains or more is OK during the rifle season - regardless of the sabot. Not sure about New Mexico. I have been using the 50/45 sabots down there for a couple of years now.

The chrono is brand new. The old one actually gave me a little more speed with the 250 grain bullet - using 5 grains more powder. I couldn't believe the reading, but didn't get an error code. Second shot - the sabot hit the digital readout and crashed the unit.

10-4 - i would agree to that...

With a 110 grains of T7-2f I was shooting the 10mm 200 grain XTP at 2145fps

With the Gold is there any reduction formula like T7?

With the 110 grains I was shooting from the A&H it really did not give a stiff kick it was really comfortable and smooth. What do you figure might bethe max load for a ML'er from your gun?
