I hope this picture comes out I've had trouble with
my computer not wanting to convert to jpeg files.
So if this picture comes through it was a 178lb
five point taken with a 45cal ML.

I took him at 45yds.in heavy oak woods. I was
using a Beartooth Magnum 45cal. 2-50gr. pyrodex
pellets winchester 209 primer. 195gr. powerbelt
aero-tip bullet.Pineridge low power scope. I hit
him right behind the shoulder, and he ran about
60yds. Iheard him fall in the leaves. Gave him about
20 min. Climbed down out of tree stand looked at
point of impact no blood. No blood trail, started
making circles found him about 60yds away lieing
against an oak tree. Entrance hole bout the size
of a dime. Not even any blood coming from hole.
But he was dead....:D

"Nice Buck" I'm sure he was good eat'n too! Did the 195gr. PB break up in pieces?
My son and I bothused the 225gr. Aero tip PB's inour .45's a couple of years in a row and we didn't get verygood blood trails either.We never lostany deer usingPB'sand we didn't have togo anyfurther than 50yds. to retrieve our deer.They work well,but I'd like to see them hold together better.
It's good to see a picture of you with your buck. I can put a face to the name now. Your much better looking than I am!

I was unaware of what happened to the PB but
when I picked up the meat at the processor he
asked. "What bullet did you use?" I asked why
he wanted to know? He replied that he found
several fragmented pieces while processing. The 45
is a very fast shooting ML and will take deer as
well. I love shooting my 45 but I will hunt with
the 50cal Omega this year. My wife said, in regards,
to the picture, nice deer old fart!!!

I didn't mention in the previous post, but we were pushing the 225gr PB's with 150gr. Pyrodex Pellets. It was a very accurate loadout of my sons Omega and my .45 Encore. All of our shots on deerwere under 100yds. even though we had the possibility of shots that would take us over 200yds. If I were to hunt with the .45 again, I'd be looking for a different bullet.

First off let me state.. I have never take a deer with a powerbelt. I do hunt with them when I use my CVA Staghorn Magnum and was more then willing to push the 245 grain Aero Tip at one, but the critters have become most uncooperative.

I really am starting to have some concerns about the powerbelt and their use. Not so much from their ability to fatally wound a deer and actually bring it down in a relatively close distance. My concern centers more on lack of blood trails and the fragmentation of the projectile I read about.

I have read a large number of posts with the same comments. Bullet fragmented, and little or no blood trail. Where I hunt, if that deer runs off without a blood trail, we have some serious problems if it makes any distance away. As popular of a bullet they are, it just seems strange that I read so many posts about them. Maybe in the future I will be able to do my own testing.

Nice deer, and nice picture. As said, now we have a face to a name...

Cayugad: This was the second deer I've taken
with the PB's. The first was a 115lb. doe but
that shot was straight down from ladder stand.
I shot her in the right eye removing lower jaw.
Didn't know anything about what the bullet looked
like. This is my take on the PB's because I did
it myself. With the power of that Electron tube
encased in a cabnet it was 1-2-3- and I was
hooked. 1- drop in a pellet; 2-drop in a pellet;
3- drop in a powerbelt. But really I don't believe
the PB's live up to the "HYPE" Some folks seem
to have good luck with them, but I think PB's
R&D has to figure out how to be ballistically good
without the fragmentation. Yep that was me in
the picture the one with the white hair :D
