Hornady Bullets
Sabotloader; as I postedearlier I'm off to the range
tomorrow. Just one problem, the Brown Truck did not show up, so the crushribs & expanders didn't either. After "as my wife called it" temper tantrum I realized I couldn't do the testing I wanted to do. After I cooled off I went to a local store looking for some bullets. What I found was a box of Hornady 50cal 45-300 XTP mag for $7.00. So I got them. Can you enlighten me as to what these are comprable to? I still want to run the penetration tests on the phonebooks. Buddy is supposed to loan me his chrony, so maybe some MV info too. THANKS DANNY |

Basically what i could tell you is that the .452 - 300 grain XTP is somewhat a universal bullet used by many. The XTP does stand up to high velocity as well as the XTP Mag. For years they were sort of my standard test bullet for antything I might shoot weighing 300 grains. You should have no problem with their accuracy - they do shoot well. A lot of people have hunted with them and the XTP mag very successfully for years and killed a lot deer. I do not myself use them for hunting, I have on occasion have hadbad experiances with them separating the lead from the copper when shooting thicker skinned animals like elk - no problems that i know of shooting deer. Here is a ballistic chart ![]() |
RE: Hornady Bullets
You may end-up liking the 300 gr. XTPs as much as those Barnes. The Hornady isa very good hunting bullet in the 300grain variety. Order more Harvester sabots to making loading those .452 XTPs a little easier.
