Default Winchester Apex Question

I know most of you guys are purists and don't care for any of the guns that have Spanish barrels, but what do you think of this gun? I quess it would compare with theCVA Kodiac in style. I'm pretty much a novice, occassional hunter and I don't want to spend a lot of money on a gun. I like the NEF guns, but have yet to find one in my area to look at. Also I have not been able to find any deeply discounted guns now that hunting season is winding down. I do not want a bolt action type gun. I want either a break open or the drop breach/pivot block type gun. Thanks in advance for any input.

I gotta tel I really do not have a problem with the Spanish barrel thing as long as you follow the guidelines set in the manuals...

I just looked up the Apex again and the suggested retail was way above what I thought you might pay for one. I do not know what you are looking at price wise either but in that price range I would seriously have to look at a TC Omega before either the Apex or the NEF.

Omega

Apex

Looking at the comparison of prices here - I would really would like to suggest the Omega - I am biased because I have one and it is an excellent gun. Really easy to operate - easy to clean - support and accesories are readily available.

Without an doubt, I'd take the Omega. Every since I read on a different forum an incident concerning a well know modelrifle with a Spanish Barrel, that was enough for me. Now on the sidelocks that are seldom loaded over 100 grains I have no problem shooting a CVA or other tpe of rifle like that. They are good shooters actually.
