Just wondering if anyone has experience with pedersoli's side by side percussion shotguns.

I almost do but drooling on one doesn't count.

I've also been looking into a small game gun but I hear pedersoli's are hard to find parts for if ever there's a problem. I'm leaning towards an American made shotgun.

Not the shotgun, but the SXS double rifle (Kodiak). It is as well made, or better, than any production rifle in the same price range.I believe these are the same as the shotgun, except of course for the barrels. Dixie has the parts.....

Well there'snot muchto choose from in my case. It's definitly going to be modern. Maybe the new model 520 by austin halleck. I can't find the price in canadian dollars, so it might just be too rich for my blood. I'd like something with interchangeable chokes so it'll pass as a back-up in case my 50 cal ever has a problem while I'm out in the middle of nowhere. I'd simply change the choke for cylinder bore and drop in a slug. Turkey takes extra full choke and goose would require a chrome barrel or something for steel shot. What would possibly fit the bill without breakin' the bank?

Oh yeah! A gunsmith told me "if it's a side by side, it's a duck gun and duck guns fire steel, no problem!" Iwasn'tabout to try it in my Rino Galesi shotgun I inherited. That old gun's still worth more than my entire modern collection combined!

I have a 54 caliber pedersoli that is a pretty neat gun. It is a double barrel rifle. Has two percussion 54 caliber barrels that you can load. The second barrel is simply on the other side of the stock from the first one. You simply swivel 180 degrees, load another percussion cap and fire your second shot. That said, I mostly hunt Colorado, so it is not legal there. I have used it in Texas once, but just seem to pull out my T/C renegade before the pedersoli.

I hope to give you an answer about my experience soon. My lovely wife just gave me permission to get one. I've wanted one for a couple of years and she decided we can finally afford it. So, this weekend I plan on making the 2 hour drive to Ft. Worth and visit Cabela's. As some of you know I finally got a good load worked up for my CVA .50 percussion. Now I get to try again with the DBL 12. God I love this stuff! I'll let you know how it goes ASAP.

i look forward to hearing from you how it goes txrookie. Why are you leaning towards the 12 guage instead of 10 though? Whats the advantage other than a little extra weight?
