Teflon coated patches

Hello all,My first post and new to the forum.I have been hunting with a Bow and blackpowder for about 30 years now andnot going tochange anything now.
My question is,my brother and I use Teflon coated patches with our 50 cal. smoke poles and we arerunning low on patches. My brother sent the pillow ticking off to have it Teflon coated somewhere but can't remember where. That happens when you get older. We both really like the dry patches.
Does anyone know where we can have that done now.

Thanks for your help.

Love the site

Larry

Welcome to the site Larry! Good to have you here. I have never shot a teflon coated patch so I have no idea where to tell you to look. Hope you find your place your searching for. And good to have you on the forum.

I was told teflon-anything is not good for rifle bores. It leaves a buildup that eventually destroys accuracy. I don't know how much teflon is in that garment, but if it's as little as Rem-Oil uses in their gun oil, you should be alright.

Thanks Joe,thats good to know.Have'nt had a problem yet,but I do clean with gun oil on final cleanup and clean with Moose milk after every shoot.I know its a bet much cleaning but I want every shoot to be the first.

Some body once told me a great line.. Teflon don`t stick to a frying pan, what makes anyone think it`ll go good down the barrel of gun... I have to agree with them I think.

I have heard a number of things about teflon patches. I will add two thingsI placed third in the bench rest reentry match in Friendship[1978 spring] using them; and took The overall bench Championship in 1978 in IL using them I used them for many years tillIstarted using sabots. I cleaned with soap and boiling water and never had any problem. I have to clean some plastic from sabots out on rare occasions never had to do that with tefelon patches. Also to avoid any confusion the teflonI was using was a commercial product of heavy tickingthat was coated on one side with teflon. I've heard a lot of shooters speak very highly of the teflon coated patches. I would have been more then glad to use some but never saw any in my travels. Those that did shoot them spoke of excellent groups with them.

40Ford-Welcome to the forum.I have used a Teflon spray called Tri-Flow.It dries pretty quick and smells a lot like bannanas.Maybe you could spray some patches and let them dry.Just a thought.
