RE: Round ball plinking loads??

In fast-twist barrels, you have to use relatively light loads. The reason is that heavy charges cause the ball to strip, and unless it spins, accuracy is as bad as or worse than you'd get from a smooth bore. many European and English rifles had fast-twist barrels, like this Dixie Jaeger, and they were invariably loaded withlight charges. English guns for large or dangerous game, which were loaded with heavy charges, used very slow twist barrels, like 1/120"!!

I've had pretty good luck using 80gr of Pyro with .490 RBs and .015 patches out of my Knight in-line..........fired 25 rds and removed all of the black (6" diameter) from the target shoting offhand at 25yds.

Trust God..........but keep your powder dry!

Even a good smoothbore, with a tight patch/ball fit, can often give a good group at 25 yards............

Why in the world would you want to pay 700.00 for a gun that has a 1 in 24 twist to shoot round ball?
