More sparks and longer flint life.

Flints basically should be as wide as the frizzen so there is the greatest chance for maximum contact and sparks...TC's Frizzens are 3/4" wide.

I first tried TC's sawed flints...they always required attention and really don't lend themselves to knapping...PITAsharpening themwith a file, and not very traditionsl, eh?

ThentriedArkansas agate sawed flints from DGW...soft, crumbled...junk!

Then I tried 5/8" black English flints...the sparking was better but they are so small and short to begin with, they don't have very long flint life;

Then I tried afewTom Fuller 3/4" (x 7/8") black English Flints, and that was it...they are so superior in every way in my TC locks, Iimmediately ordered a large low priced bulk order of them.

I average 40-60 shots without even trying...often without knapping them at all or just once...and if I knapp oftenand reposition and fiddle around with them I can get up near 100 shots/flint...but usually I shoot a whole Saturday range session (40-50 shots) and when I clean the rifle, I toss the used flint into a jar and start fresh the next Saturday.

A 3/4" black English flint,Goex 4F prime, Goex 3F main, TC's redesigned lock& vent liner.....it's like shooting a .30-30 every time the hammer drops!

PLUS...they're the real deal...it's what the settler's used!!
