RE: smokeless powders
I am intersted in some fast loads that use more typical powder such as red dot or green dot or other fast powders such as 700x.
I really know nothing about loading with any powder other than certified. Dad and I used to load alot of shotgun rounds with 700x and alcan. I have read Toby Bridges modern muzzleloading and I am aware of the certified powders. Also I would like to know good strategies regarding measuring powders, preparing loads, and visiting the range. I am thinking about premeasuring all of my loads at home in viles and taking them to the range in a box. |
RE: smokeless powders
Accurate Arms 5744, and Vihtivouri 110 (for 250gr) and 120 (for 300gr), seem to be becoming a few of the top choices in powder for the 10ml. Although these may not be powders you already have lying around they are certainly worth the small investment.
The reason for this is the fact that a small cadre of shooters have already spent countless hours doing alot of the preliminary and even advanced testing of these powders with almost all readily available bullet/sabot combinations. The ability to access all their findings on the internet means that almost any relatively knowledgable shooter could expect to get sub 2mao groups within their there first fewtrips to the range.
