2 Doe to finish 2005
 

Thought I'd share pictures of the 2 Doe I took in our late Blackpowder season. Both were taken at a little more than 100 yds. 2 Pellets -pyrodex. Was shooting a .50caliber Thompson Thunderhawk. With Hornandy saboted .44calXTP240gr JHP.

Both deer ere very appreciated as I had yet to take a deer all season - passed young bucks, missed w/bow - etc. The first dressed 100lbs - the second 110lbs.





Both shotswere pass throughs - the first pic was low in the lungs and I wasn't surprised by the penetration. The second (hanging deer pic) -the doe was quarter towardme - but she was reaching all the way back- licking her hind leg when I shot. It was aodd site picture - as she was contorted - but there was so much vitals exposed that Itook theshot with a good rest. The bullet entered the base of the neck - and passed through. It did not re-enter the deer - and I did not recover the bullet. She was dead before she hit the ground.

Farm, that's all I have been using in my Knight Wolverine .50cal since 1993 and that's all I plan to use!:)
I made the the conversion to Large Rifle primers when it first came out and still using it!

Fantastic! and there are so many of that just plain overlook the simple hornady 240 - it is not expsensive therefore it doesn't work.
