The most accurate thing out of my .50 caliber T/C Hawkins Flintlock has to be roundball. I load 90 grains of 3f and a patched roundball and the rifle is amazing. It also shoots the maxiball well. I shoot them with 80 grains of 3f a wonder wad and lube them with home made castor oil/bees wax lube. They also shoot well but the accuracy seems to fall off at 75 yards. I have shot some R.E.A.L. 320 grain and they did real good. Nothing to get excited about mind you, but they shoot all right. For some reason my flinter does not shoot R.E.A.L. conicals as well as my percussion cap Hawkins do.

My T/C 1:48 50 cal shoots round balls extremely well too. It also like the 250 gr R.E.A.L. bullet.
Green Mtn. makes a drop in barrel with a 1:28 twist which would be better used with conicals. Mine likes the 275 gr Maxi hunters. I just never had too much luck with saboted bullets. the 245 gr. Powerbelts were just OK.

the only thing my hawken shoots IS a patch n ball...tight or loose combos both shoot great.....i wish i had one of them rifle vises to shoot it from.....its more accurate then i can be....i need glasses but wont admit it lol......i cant even make out fiber optic sights.....3 glowing blurrs and a blurring target its hard to shoot lol...but i shoot cayugads load.....90gr of 3fg goex .015 prelubed patch and a .495 hornady ball......yes...its TIGHT.....but once started it slides right down....last time out i was putting them in the BOTTOM of a pop can at 30-35yds.....not bad for my bad eyes....i need glasses terribly lol..........im only 18 and my eyes are bad! i also used to shot .490 balls a .010 patch and 90grs of 2fg goex.....shot good as well.....i cant get bullets of any type to shot well....or load again without cleaning...
