Really getting bummed

I needed a new cleaning jag for my 54. [:@]None found todate localy after going to the three major suppliers of gun related ;)STUFF for 50's. The one place is a gun shop and does have a bunch of BP bullets, sabots, powder and other ;)STUFF. Decided to see what they had in used ML's saw two Remington 50 cal rifles One stainless steel with a Bushnell 3x9 scope for 270.00. The other one was the blued (looks black to me) no scope, had the manual for $270.00. seemed odd to me since the SS sold for about $20.00 more new if I remember right.
Got after the owner about the lack of 54 stuff since I bought mine from him. Gota buy that stuff before August he said reduceing the inventory starting in Oct so they are not left with so much stuff at the end of their fical year.

Ya I thought about asking him to trade the 50 SS Remingtom minus scope for my 54 SS Remington but I do like mine to much.

That's why I buy most of my stuff on line. My house looks like a small gun shot. There are usually three of every possible thing I might need. (Something which my friends have learned all too well) So I always have a spare anything hanging on my gun room wall. The cabinet is stocked with a good supply of different projectiles and there is plenty of powder.

I'd keep the .54 caliber too, and then buy the .50 caliber on top of it. :D You can never never have too many rifles in my book.

I'm sort of wondering why the SS one with scope is the same price as the blued one?

Most of my stuff comes from the internet. I do buy my powder and caps from Sportsmans Warehouse so I dont need to pay hazmat. They are 15min away from my house. I get alot of my stuff from cabelas. Alleyyooper, you can just get the ramrod kit from cabelas in the accessories section. Here is a link to Cabelas. Go to hunting/optics then scroll down a little. You will find the Black Powder section on the left hand side. I hope this helps. They have plenty of 54 stuff.

Yup decided when ever I run across any 54 stuff here I use I will buy the store out till I have a life time supply.
I so do miss Ye Old Black Powder Shop a lot.
I guess a trip to Cabelas will be in order when I am in Minnesota next month. I have a funny story about the black Powder expert at the Minnesota store a couple of years ago. He wondered How I shot black powder out of my Remington 700. Didn't even know they made such a thing. Still had to get my scope mounts from Willians since he didn't know if center fire rifle ones would fit my ML.
Yes I know there is one in Michigan, where it is closer to the major cities than us northern folks.

TC Breakqway sabots, used them for years, just gave about 600 to an old friend, like many things they have good and bad points.Good if you add extre borebutter to the felt wad you can get a lot of shots before having to clean, they tend to load easy compared to the new type. Bad, the loads and powder you can use are limited;they won't handle heavy loads about 100gr volium measure much more and the accuracy is gone.I would not try to use them with APP,Gold or Pinnicle powder as they are very senitive to oil or grease.Hope this helps Lee.
