Everyone with these black powder shotguns like the Encore Barrel, Knight TK2000 and White Tominator are claiming they have an effective range out to 45 yards. Of course you have to test your gun pattern but that's makes for a lot of dead turkeys since most of them I shoot are around 25 yards.

I have a CVA double in 12 ga.

I use 100 gr. powder and 3 1/2 oz. #6 shot.

I pour the powder in then the over powder wad,thin paper like the (thickness of 4 or 5 sheets of paper) then a thick one ,(sorta like cork) then the shot , then the over shot wad.

I have tried the plastic cups,but I like the cardboard ones better.they fit tighter for me.

I try to hold my shots to 35 yards max. after all , thats the game; (gettem in close)

you just have to pattern your gun , just like a moderen gun.work up a load that you gun likes.
