I had an A&H mountain rifle for about a week.
It looked good on the shelf, but when I got it home, I was not very happy with it. |

1950kid, W hat was the problem with the mountain rifle that you didn't like? Seen one in one of our local stores and sure looked like nice repo of a true hawkin. Just curious as to why you got rid of it.

I have the 420 SS Monte Carlo stock. I purchased it as a factory second so there were a few minor things that needed correction. Other than that, it is a great weapon. It took me a little while to find out what would shoot best out of it with a magnum load, 150 grains of Goex Clearshot pushing a Barnes 250 gr MZ Expander. 1.5 inch groups or better at 100 yards. Shot two bucks this year, both pass throughs, one through both shoulders. I am satisfied with it.

Did you mean the A & H inline or their sidelock?? A friend of mine bought one of the inlines. It looked great, but misfired frequently. Turned out that the striker face was coming up just a little shy of hitting the nipple correctly. He had to send it back to the factory to be "adjusted". He also bought an A & H Hawken-type sidelock. It was a good gun!!
