Knight breech plugs for red 209's
#1
Was at the local gun shop today and I noticed that the dealer had a conversion kit their to convert knight's over to full plastic Jackets for 209's (the red ones) The whole kit cost 65 bucks. My question for you guys that know your stuff is I have a knight bighorn that takes the 209's but not in a jacket or disc they go straight in the breech plug, which I have problems with sometimes, mainly removal of spent ones. I noticed that in this kit the inline bolt looks the same as mine, even measured it, looks the same the only thing I can tell is the breech plug is different. Can I buy just the breech plug and it work with my hammer/bolt? Thanks! Oh, in case your wandering the dealer is on vaction hunting and the guy he has working the counter only knows how to operate the cash box, so he could not help.

You should probably ask Knight. I know the #11/musket cap plunger won't work, but I'm not sure about the regular 209 plunger. I guess it would depend on the striking surface and the skirt diameter.

I sent the question to Knight. I looked at the face of a 209 conversion striker and noticed a very tiny dimple in the middle. However, there was not enough height, I think to make a difference. My old LK-93 doesn't have the dimple. natchezss has the conversion for $48 I think

My understanding from reading other posts in besides the breech plug, many times the entire striker assembly needs to be replaced. My thoughts on this is, my LK-II uses the #11 caps. I hunt in rain and snow and never had a problem with ignition, shooting loose powder, so I see no need to change something that is not broke..

ok I've got the same set up as you do on my MK-85s, and I've also have a couple of disc rifles, the bolt assembly will not go over the disc. I'm betting (haven't seen on) that the bolt that comes with it is strait and not "stepped in" at the face like ours are. So from what I can tell, yep you need the bolt also

After doing some measuring, I just bought the breechplug and it works fine for the red plastic jackets.
I think those kits were for the original #11 only setup. I measured one of the kits at cabelas and the hammer was the same as the one in my gun.
