Your range will be determined by the ability to find the right load for the rifle and the optics you use. One thing that is true for me is, without a scope, I am a 100 yard shooter. I just do not see with open sights good enough to shoot further then 100 yards. So you take my scope away, and it would not matter if I were using a inline, traditional, matchlock, spear, rock, what ever. If I can't see it, I can't shoot it.

The CVA I am sure will be a 100 yard rifle without a scope. I see no reason why it would not be. People are reporting excellent accuracy out of them. With the right optics, you can stretch that even out to 200 yards with practice.

Be sure and read the owners manual and pay strict attention to the load recommendations and follow those guidelines. Good luck with your rifle..

If your CVA is like mine, try 90-100 grains of Pyrodex or a FFg powder. 85 grains if your shooting Triple Se7en FFg. And a 245 grain Aero Tip Powerbelt or a 348 grain all lead Powerbelt. They shoot excellent out of my Staghorn. Also the Staghorn with 90 grains of Goex 2f will shoot the 240 grain XTP's excellent.

Good luck with your rifle. New rifles are fun!!

I got a CVA Kodiak Mag this year, my first BP gun. I really enjoy shooting it and with alot of help from the guys in this forum, have it shooting really well. With iron sights, scope goes on next year, it is shooting 3" groups at 100 yards with 100gr of 777 and 250 gr shockwaves.
