T/C Black Diamond Blister pack?
I am looking at buying the T/C B.D. blister pack, which is on clearance at my local Walmart. I have no clue on how good or bad this model is. I heard that it is not a closed system, meaning that it is vulnerble to the weather. Is this true?
I was thinking that one of the biggest reason to buy an inline ML is that it is alittle more weather proof.
It is a great deal so I don't want to pass it up. Any suggestions?

The Thompson Center Black Diamond with blister pack is the standard Black Diamond with the 22" barrel. You are correct, this is not a closed breech system. For that you's have to look at the Omega.
The open breech I do not feel is all that serious of a weather issue. They do sell breech covers to keep snow and moisture out of the breech but I do not use one. Also the 209 primer is a lot more weather resistant then you might consider.
Roskoe has a couple of the Black Diamonds with the shorter barrel and I think he can tell you a lot more about them. I have the XR model with the longer barrel. They are a great shooting rifle, and of course you have the Thompson Center customer service behind you...

As Cayugad stated, the open breech design of the Black Diamond is not, in itself, a big weather reliability issue. Both 209's and musket caps are pretty waterproof. The few problemsI have had are that the open breech allows things like sand, pine bark, and powder residue to get into the area where the striker has to pass through -and can slow or stop the striker's forward progress. These are great guns - light in weight, very ergonomic stock, accurate barrel, and they hold zero well even after being completly field stripped for cleaning.
My 22" stays sighted in for big conicals, and I use the 26" XR for sabots with pellets. For a Colorado legal load, I recommend a 410 gr. Hornady Great Plains bullets ahead of a MMP ballistic bridge sub base with 110 gr. of 2f G Triple 7. Works for everything from marmots to moose.

I purchased a Black Diamond XR from Wally World last year for a very good price butI was a bit leary. It just didn't appear like the one I remembered seeingin the T/C catalog.Wally World folks said there was no difference. I told them it would be coming back if I found it to be different. Got it home and compared it tothe one shown in the T/C catalog.Sure enough the stock had a different camo pattern, didn't include allthree ignition systems, and the sights werecheaper. Wally World got that one back!
Thats how Wally World could sell this model at a lower than normal price. Most likelythe Black Diamond sold at Wally World in the blister pack has also been cheapened a little.
By the way,T/C customer support was rather reluctantto tell me this information. Actually was passed up toa manager before theyfinally admitted tome that it wasmadespecial for Wally World with less frills.
