T/C Maxi-Hunter

Can anyone tell me how acurate the T/C maxi-hunter is? I'm shooting A N.E.F. Huntsman. Do you need sabots with these, I'm new to muzzleloading and was just curious on the performance of the maxi-hunter. Thanks

I have used them with success. They don't need a sabot, but I have had better accuracy with a wonder wad between the powder and bullet. Also, you don't want to try to drive them too hard. 100 gr. of Pyrodex RS was a good hunting load.

If they are legal in your area, however, I would take a hard look at the 250 gr. Shockwave. They can be driven to some pretty impressive speeds with good accuracy, or loaded to moderate speeds with good results as well. Great all around hunting load.

As to how accurate they will be.. only your rifle knows for sure. Like Roscoe said, don't push them hard. I like to start them with 80 grains of powder. That is more then plenty for ranges under 100 yards on deer. If they group good, you're in luck. Don't push them more then 100 grains.

There are lots of different conicals out there you may want to try. Under someI run a wad and some I don't. All you can do it try it both ways in your rifle and see what works best for you.

I have a 1858 Enfield and all I use is the TC Maxi Hunter. It is very accurate and in 2 weeks some deer is going to findout!! I use 85 grains of Pyrodex with it and she will shoot accurately to 200 yards.
