Flintlock Disassembly
Well last Friday I decided to completly disassemble and clean my flintlock's lock.
I was kind of surprised at how it all went. Removing and reassembling the small pieces: sear, tumbler, bridle, etc., went pretty smoothly.
However the main spring was an absolute beast to contend with. A small pair of vise-grip pliers eventually did the trick. Although I needed to use a folded patch to prevent scratching the metal.
What I am wondering, is there a vise-grip type of tool that is made out of fiberglass or some such material that does not scratch metal? Something that is also able to grab on to uneven surfaces?
Cayugad: I cleaned off all of the oil and grease and replaced it with the Barricade/Sheath. I'm curious to see how well it works.
