MT - you might go back a couple of pages to October 9th - I posted some results under the topic: "250 Shockwave will shoot through an elk". Hope there is some usefule information in there for you. Roskoe

I used them last year,
The performance is, in my humble opinion, probably the best on the market for saboted bullets. I think I posted in the same post Roskoe is talking about w/ details. You just can't go wrong w/ the 250 grainers and 100 to 120 grains of 777. I have heard some excellent reports out of the 200 grain bullets as well, but unless someone shows me some much better ballistics and performance, I AIN"T SWITCHIN!!
Seriously, good bullet and great performance.

Anyone have any experience with the 300 grain Shockwaves? I got some just to try em out (I usually use the 250 grains) but it's going to rain all weekend here :(

I used them last year - took a real nice 6X6 bull elk opening morning. The bullet, at about 70 yards, entered the ribs on the right side and wound up in the shoulder on the left side. I found the jacket and core in the same spot, even though they had separated. Even found the little yellow plastic tip.

The 250's shoot a little better in my guns and, based on one animal harvested so far, seem to have adequate penetration. For deer, though, I would used the 250's or even the 200's - depending on what my gun liked the best.

The 300 grain Shockwaves will work fine on deer. In my opinion there is no such thing as over kill. It is blows a little bigger hole through the animal.. all the better. The thing I would make sure of is I am not giving up accuracy for bullet weight. The 250 grain and even the 200 grain Shockwave will get the job done just fine if put in the right spot.

I gave away my shockwaves because I couldn't stuff those suckers down the barrel of my Encore. Switched to 200 grainDead Centers. Downed my second deer in it's tracks last night. Four nice points on one side and a deformed mess on the other. Wierd rack! Jim

Why I use Powerbelts, I'm 64 and not going to rupture myself with sabots.........Powerbelts (295-348) have always been accurate enuff and dropped the deer in their tracks for me.
