Cold Bore POI

I think I got a bedding problem on my knight elite. Cold bore at 100 yards is low and to the left about 4". After that its 2MOA groups right in the hole. Anyone else see this? Yep the rifle was fouled. I shot a doe this morning.

RE: Cold Bore POI

After yesterdays fiasco shooting my rifle on the range, I am not sure what they do anymore. I am sure glad I was not hunting with them. Rifles that normally shoot around a 1" group, the best they could do was three inches which might be hunting acceptable but not to my target shooting standards.

I have a much greater difference in POA from the inlines then I ever did shooting roundball. On my Black Diamond XR when I shoot XTP's my first shot on a clean barrel is always 2" high and just a touch to the right. My Wolverine on the other hand shoots 1/2 inch low on a clean barrel. I can live with that...

Congratulations on taking the doe by the way!!

BC - my Knight did the same thing. Never did figure it out - at least it was relatively consistent.

I bedded mine tighter. Might be the reason. And put some glass in it. I might need to look at the bedding again.

Hard to say. I also noticed that the Knight was not real good about returning to zero after you took the stock off to clean it, so I always figured it was a stock problem. Neither of my Black Diamonds do this.

The elites seem to have a real stiff stock. Not the usually tupperware job. I don't know. I am going to find out. I plan on shooting three shots this week once a day.

You know I think I screwed up when I bedded this gun. Its now too tight. And at the range, if I tightened down the action screw real hard it changes POI. New it was floated but too much. Shouldn't have removed so much material.

Big Country... My Knight Disc is not beddedreally but I have noticed that the barrel to compsosite stock fit is very tight. For instance when you take the locking lug bolt out, you have to almost force the rifle out of the stock it is that tight. Is this normal? It seems to shoot good which is most important.

Cayugan, that is normal. Thats the reason I rebedded my elite. It rocks on lug. POI is the same but didn't think that was too normal since I had experience with other discs like yours. But yep thats fairly normal.

just about any gun that i have owed that was not pillar mounted you could change the POI just by changing the tension on themounting screws. biggest change comes from the forearm screw. by over tighting the forearm the POI usuallygoes up.this is common on savages, h-r's and even remingtons if they are not pillar mounted. this isthe reasonto make sure everything is tight before you sightin. :)
