Triple 7 3Fg max load?
 

Does anyone know what the max load of 3F T7 is for a .50cal Knight DISC Magnum? The Hodgdon website says 100 grains, but I've seen references to people using 130-150 grains of both 2F and 120 grains 3F without problems. Someone also posted here that called Hodgdon who said the max load of 2f is 130grains, while the data only says 120.

While I don't plan on hotrodding the crap out of this rifle (I'm hunting Whitetails, not tanks), I would like to know what the real life (read "not written by lawyers") load limits are.

I would consider a maximum 3fg charge of 777 for your rifle to be 120gr. As a standard practice, the rule when switching from 2fg to 3fg is to drop the charge at least 10%. And since 777 also has to be dropped at least 10% from Pyro or B/P loads, that drops the maximum load to 120gr.

However, unless you're shooting a 400gr (or larger) bullet, you won't need that much powder. In fact, I think you'll find that your accuracy will tail off once you get over 100gr with 300gr bullets and once you get over 90gr with bullets in the 200gr to 300gr range.

Yes....777 is THAT much stronger than any other powder. When using this stuff, pushing the charge to maximum levels rarely helps matters. And trust me on this.........it kills just fine loaded in the 80gr to 90gr range.
