RE: my new toy
No, the stock is for right-handed users only. By the way, I took it out today. It took me a while, aboutthree hours,to find a load that worked. 120gr. of pyradex pellets and 200gr. shockwaves will hold about a one inch group at 100 yards. Does anyone know what the velocity of that load is and what would be the drop at about 150 yards.

RE: my new toy
Forgot to mention, I tried a fouled barrel, clean barrel, and even took the gun completly apart and cleaned it and with the load preveously mention it was right on every time. This gun is great. The shockwaves were not hard to load if you cleaned after every shot, but after about three shots it was next to impossible to get them down the barrel. Also another load that worked well was 100gr. of 777 pellets and 200gr. shockwaves. I found out that if I used 150gr. of either pyrodex or 777 pellets the accuracy was horrible. It would not group at all, it would shoot dead on with one shot and the next could be three feet high or even three feet left. Also I used the new remington kleenbore primers and the winchester primers. They both left pretty much the same amount of residue in the barrel and did not make a difference in accuracy.
Oh yeah, I forgot to thank all the members on the board for thier post. This is the best muzzleloader forum I have yet to find. This is my first year to muzzleload and I already feel like an avid muzzleloader hunter after reading the many post and replys. I couldn't have done it with out you all. Keep up the good work. |
RE: my new toy
sounds like you have a great rifle. Also an excellent load already. Sound like you had a great day at the range. An excellent range report. And your hooked on muzzleloading now...:D

RE: my new toy
Wow, that is a fine looking piece. My friend has an Omega also and he loves it. He uses 2-50grPyrodexpellets withthe TC 250gr Shockwaves. Dead on at 100 yards. Only problem, if you want to call this a problem, heswabs after each shot to get the Shockwaves to seat without a whole lot of force.
He tried the PowerBelts (couple different sizes too)and didn't have any luck with them at all. You will hear a lot of mix reviews onhow well the PowerBeltsdoin the Omega's. I have a TC Encore 50cal. I use2-50gr 777 pellets with295 gr Powerbelts. PowerBelts work very well for me. Good luck with the new toy! |
RE: my new toy
Nice rifle.
I am going to guess fps is around 2000 fps and about a 12 to 14 in drop at 200 yds. I shoot 110 grs of pyro select in my encore and the 200 sst,I get around 1900 out of it.You will have to shoot it at different ranges to get the actual drop. The sst 200 or SW does a good job on deer,If you swab between shots and let the barrel cool between shots you should get some very tight groups at 100 yds. ![]() |
RE: my new toy
At 100 yards with 0.0 dropyou are pushing 1760 fps with 1376 energy
125 -1.2 16821256 150 -3.2 1606 1145 175 - 6.1 1533 1044 200 - 9.91463 951 225 -14.7 1398 867 250 -20.6 1336 792 this was figured dead on at 100 yards with 120 grains of Pyrodex avergage speed of 2100fps at muzzle for a 200 grain Shockwave with a BC of .217 |

ITHOUGHT OF A FEW MORE THINGS. With the 28 inch bbl on the Omega and 120g of pyro, sighted 2 inches high at 100 yds the drop was 17 inches at 200 yds. This is why I gave the 150 G load a try. It burned all of the powder better than the 120 G load. The 120 G load actually fell on to the shooting bench end still smoking, but the bullet drop was not acceptable to Me. The 150 G load burnt cleaner with out leaving any still smoking powder on the bench. Sounds funny but it is true. Now if You black powder Gurus can explane this, please let Me know because I still am amazed.
