Goex Pinnacle absorb moisture?

I was wondering if anyone else had trouble shooting Pinnacle during high humidty levels.
Last week I went shooting shortly after it hadquit raining. I had a covered roof over my head the entire shooting session and it never rained during the time I was out.I do not know what the humidity level was, but it wassomewhat foggy outside. Iweighed my charges of FFg Pinnacle before I left the house....85grs. and I had a real hard time shooting anything that you could call agroup.I tried several bullets with this load....nothing seemed to work. The chronograph was giving me readings all over the place.
During my shooting session I spilled a little Pinnacle on the shooting bench when Iloaded a few rounds usingmy powder measure.
At the end of my shooting sessionI wipedoff the Pinnacle powder that had spilled on the bench and it smeared like mud. It seemed the powder had absorbed the moisture in the air.
I'd be interested if anyone else has hada similiarexperience using Pinnacle.

It is the only powder I have ever bought that has a silica pellet pack in it to keep out moisture. The few shots I took with it just did not feel right although they went off fine and some work with the powder would have yielded some fair results. It just sucked loading I could not get it to flow through my powder flask. Some chunks of the stuff was over 1/16 in diameter!!

I will let you know how it handles moisture, it is living in one of my trucks tool boxes now. I hope all the driving grinds the powder down some and I want to see if it will shoot after a few months out in the sun, rain, cold ,snow.:D

I shot some last winter, while it was snowing. I never saw a moisture problem. But then it is hard to draw moisture when the moisture form is solid. In fact I liked the powder so much I bought two pounds more. I will be testing it later this week. Living in Wisconsin, it is not perhaps damp but we do get our fair share of moisture.

Cayugad,
I was pretty happy my 1st time out using Pinnacle, but my 2nd shooting session sure soured me.
I didn't mention that I had to clean between shots that day. I was getting just about the same amount of fouling as youdo shooting 777 wo the crud ring.
When I removed the breech plug at the end of the day, there was a tar like substance inside the breech.
I hope that this was a fluke, but I'm afraid this stuff attracts the moisture in the air.As they say..."time will tell"

Encoreman.. I intended to shoot Pinnacletoday but it was raining really hard today. Not a kind of day a person would want to sit in and shoot. It will be interesting to see what kind of results I have. If I can get a nice foggy morning, I will run out and see if it likes to suck moisture or not...

Do you think I could duplicate the moisture in the air using a humidifier and see what happens to the powder?

You might try shooting it off in a steamy shower, but be careful.. some people do not take kindly to black powder rifles in the bath. Let alone them going off in the house. :D

That's almost as bad as shooting a flintlock upside down. LOL
What I had in mind was just laying the powder on a piece of steel and let the humidifier blow on it, or over the top of it and see if it turns to mud.
