better deer bullet?
I have narrowed my choice down to three bullets for deer hunting this year. I was wondering which one would have less drop at longer ranges and would be the most efficiant for a clean quick kill? All in .50 caliber.
215gr. QT .40
200gr. Shockwave
195gr. dead center

IMO, those choices are leaning towards the light side if your interest is long range trajectory, and of course you'll want to hold energy upat distance as well.
Assuming you're referring to .50cal sabot & .45cal bullets...one of the best sabot/bullet combinations I've ever used was a Hornady .452/300grn XTP...took several deer with it in an MK-85...dropped the biggest mature 8 pointer of my life in his tracks at 165yds.
Weight is actually a plus when it comes to holding up trajectory and energy at distance...light bullets slow down too quickly...my advice would to to think in term of at least 275grns...300grns is better

RE: better deer bullet?
I was shooting the 200 grain Shockwaves with 110 grains of Triple Se7en and the accuracy was exceptional. I think I could have pushed them harder but since my ranges are limited, I really saw no need to speed them up and take a beating with the recoil from the rifle. I am going to be using them this year in my Black Diamond XR when I hunt one stand that overlooks a large hay field. I might get a 150 yard shot, but with the rolling hills, I doubt that.. I think they will make an excellent deer projectile..

i would go with a 250 gr shockwave, i usethe 350 hornady sst (same bullet but cheaper without TC on it!!) and they are excellent sabots. i havent killed a deer with them yet, but hope to in about a month

I've never shot the 215 grain QT .40 but read some posts on it. The QT is supposed to be an excellent long range game taker. I was reading Percission Rifle's sight last night again. I see some things I might like to try. the QT being one of them. I have some other bullets coming in today to shoot, but we might get an order out for the others soon...
Good luck to all of you hunting this year. Remember, shot placement is the main thing. If you can not put that bullet in the right spot, no matter what whiz bang feature it might have, they seldom do any good. Stick them where it hurts and let the bullet do the rest of the work. Good luck everyone!!
