load for encore
just got done makeing up new load for moose. i am relitively new to muzzelloading. i worked up to 135grains of pyrodexbehind a 300 grain sst. i got a 3 shot group of 5/8th inch at 50yards. i didn't know bp could shoot so good. i wanted to test these bullets to see how well the stayed together, so i shot into a stack of southern yellow pine blocks that has been sitting out for a year. it went through 7", exspanded to 7/8", and waighed 284grains. i am very impressed.

RE: load for encore
Well it sounds like the moose better be careful where they walk. That's some great shooting and with that load the moose will never have a chance. All you have to do now is find the right animal and get to a comfortable shooting range. The rifle will do the rest... Good luck.

RE: load for encore
I echo Cayugad thoughts"the moose better be careful where they walk" You started off right by buying a quality muzzleloader.I've shot and owned just about all makes, models and calibersand the T/C Encore is right at the top.Looking forward to hearing how your moose hunt went. Good Luck!
Keep it in the 10X ENCOREMAN |
RE: load for encore
I used almost the same load last year on a big bull elk - except 130 gr. of Pyrodex pellets - worked real well. You might try the T/C Shockwaves in the same weight - they are the same bullet and they seat a little easier in my T/C's.
