Spoiled rotten.

I shot my Encore for the first time since last fall and was appalled at how crappy the scope on it actually is. You see in the mean time I upgraded the scopes on both my Scout and my old Savage 110 cartridge rifle. Now I am not one to spend alot on scopes but the difference between $110 Bushnells and $80 Tasco's I can now say is profound.

I guess my eyes have changed some but I could not focus the Tasco Bantam at 100yds!! Being fair it was a sunny day with the targets in shadows but hey deer will be in shadows as well. I also have had that scope on the Encore for many years I bought the Encore the first year they came out. I could have just worn the darn thing out. I know it has over a thousand rounds though it.

Bottom line is if I do not get a new scope soon the Scout will be my rifle for most of the muzzleloading season for the first time in ages. I may take the scope off the Encore and try the sights that came with it. Never shot it that way it could be fun for an experiment. I don't care much for fiber optic sights.

I was shooting the Knight Disc rifle today with the fiber optic sights and actually felt real comfortable shooting them. I guess it would not hurt to try the fiber optic sights. I just put a $119.00 Sightron I on my Wolverine II and have shot it four times now. I must say I am impressed with it. Hope you find the kind of sights or sighting device you like.

I guess I should try the sights just to get them set up for back up if anything. My birthday is the 20th and if I drop a hint for a scope it will be the third year in a row lol!! One thing I will check is I have the exact same scope on the .308 barrel I have for the Encore I should see if I still have a clear picture in that tube. That would get me through hunting season anyway. ( good excuse to check out the iron sights on that barrel as well)

The last Bantam I had lasted only two years... maybe 35 shots. The guts to the windage took a crap. That was about the time ML video producer Randy Wakeman was raving about the Sightrons -- so I had to try one.... then two.

Product #U30761 for $122

Here's the specs on the Sightron SI. Only know of one shooter who was not pleased with the shipped product -- out of over 50.... maybe that's too many -- make it 30.

Well guys I bought a Bushnell Trophy 3-9x40 today for that rifle. I should have it kicking the Scouts butt again soon. I paid $111 for it I think that is an ok price.

That's a little higher priced then I have seen them listed, but if your happy that's all that counts. I think you have a good scope there. Keep us posted..

Yes it is a bit more, but it was a drive by purchase so no shipping or gas charges applied. Looks like a little bit better a scope than the Banners. They have performed well for me.
