What do you think about shooting 250 grain T/C Shockwaves with 130 grains of Triple 7's out of a stainless steal 22" barrelKnight DISC rifle? Is this good for 100 - 150 - 200 yards? I have a Leupold on it also. How many inches high should I sight it at 100 yards to do 200 yards?

With that projectile and that powder charge you will get good speed. Whether a 22" barrel will get the full benifit from a 130 grain charge of Triple Se7en I do not know. I figured the bullet which has a BC of .210 at a muzzlel velocity of 1950 fps. This should be in that ball park. If you sight the rifle in 1.9 inches high at 100 yards the projectile should behave close to the following manner from the ballistic chart;

1.9" high at 100 yards
0.7" 125
0.0 135
-1.4" 150
-4.6" 175
-9.0 200 and still has a muzzle energy of 942
-14.6 225 still pushing 862
-21.6 250 yards and still pushing 791

of course you see the bullet is really starting to drop and loose power. This would of course be effected by many different factors but will give you an idea.... hope this helps and answers your question.

I have just started with the Shockwave/SST's, but so far they are shooting like my Expanders. I use 130 gr Pyrodex, but it sounds like we have the same Knight model but mine hasa Zeiss Conquest scope. I sight in dead on at 100 and am 13 inches low at 200. I shot alot at 200 at the range last yearin preparation for a huntin Oklahoma, but I really didn't want to shoot a deer that far (however if the "right" buck walked out, I wanted to be ready).If I intended to actually shoot at game at 200, I would sight in about 4-5" high at 100 which will put you 8-9" low at 200. On most deer, you could aim at the top of the back to get in the kill zone. I am going back to the range tomorrow. Iwill trya 4" high at 100 sight in and see what happens at 200.

My first outing with them was bad I got some of the ones that were shipped with oversized sabots. The rest that I have shot shot exellent.

I just recently tried some and really liked the results. I have not pushed them as hard as you are yet but they may work at that load. You'll just have to try them. I think if you stick close to what Cayugad posted you'll be in the right area. I would sight in at around 3" high at 100 and you will be in the neighborhood of 3 to 4 inches down at 200.

I don't have my load book with me but, if memory serves, with the 300 SST (similar bullet), with 130gr of Pyro pellets I was in the 1900 to 1950fps range. With a 3" high at 100 zero I was about 5" low at 200 with about a 3 to 4" group. That was with a 26" barrel so the speed should be similar with your setup and a 250 bullet.

That's the exact combination I use in my optima and have had excellent results. I have it sighted 2-3" high at 100 yards and it's dead on at 150 and 3" low at 200yds. The groups were tight too shooting about 1" group at 100yds and approx 1.5 to 2" at 150 so you shouldn't have any prolbems getting a deer up to 200 yards.

DeerSlayer...I have owned a Knight Disc with a 22 inch barrel since 1998...have probably shot 500 rounds through....Mine doesn't like higher powder charges...
Last year I changed to the 250 Shockwave/SST bullets, 90 grains of 777 was all it would give a halfway decent group with...I worked with it again this spring and learned 2 things...90 grains of RS Pyrodex was the best loading...and it grouped better with the TC sabots than the Hornady sabots...I even bought 4 boxes of the TCs this spring, so I know which sabots I am using....I can't figure out whose sabots they used last year...I thought they were MMP...so I ordered their short black "standard" sabot...and the longer thinner "mag" sabot...they don't match up with the sabots that TC had last year...they were a shorter sabot with the "stepped" base...Anyway...just letting you know how picky these things can be...
btw...My buddy shoots an American Knight...best load is 90grs 777 and 250 Hornady....His gun didn't like the TCs....We did kill 4 deer with these last year...3 dropped with shoulder shots..last one ran about 100 yds with a lung shot..
I am sighted in about 3 inches high at 100...and dead onat 150....thats my personal limit...Good Luck

What kind of expansion do you get shooting the 250 grain Shockwaves with 90 grain of Pyrodex RS out of your 22" barrel Knight. The reason I ask is I have a 22" barrel Knight Wolverine II and it does not like the lighter shockwaves at all. I have had a little luck with the 300 grain Shockwaves and the 250 grain Barnes Expanders...

Cayugad...Don't know...yet...I switched to Pyrodex this spring...last fall I used 777...Groups were 2-2 1/2 inches at 100...by changing to 90 grs Pyrodex and the TCs...It actually went to one ragged hole....

The 4 deer we killed last year...the 250 SSTs went all the way through...This is really my only concern...I shot two B&C does through the shoulder...both at 40 yards...blew through both shoulder blades...they dropped...My buddy shot his first deer quartering to him at about 35-40 yards...bullet went through left shoulder and exited the ribs on the other side...he dropped...He shot a 9 point 2 evenings later at about 50 yards...hit just behind the shoulder...exited the ribs...deer ran about 100 yards...into the soybean field...took about an hout to find....very little blood trail....This deer would have dropped if he had hit it 4 inches forward of where he did...I'm used to killing with a .54 round ball...actually get better expansion and blood trails with that...

btw...The load I shot up to last year with the Knight was 100 gr FF and the 300gr Barnes...My gun didn't like the 250s...But, with a shorter barrel I was looking for a more aerodynamic bullet... I take a week off each year and hunt the earlier season in Eastern NC...we camp out the week and don't have to worry about the deer hounds running on our property...I take the .54 when hunting the woods in the morning...but...now take the Knight (with scope) hunting the fields in the evenings...

I see the bc is .210 on the 250 gr Shockwave. What is the bc on the 250 gr Expander? I have had GREAT luck with the 250 gr Expanders, but I am still going to try the SST's. I have bought 250 and 300 gr SST's and 300 gr Expanders to try also. On your chart which is ballistically better?
