I just got this system rebuilt bigger and better so they claimed... There are still a few glitches I have to work through. I can get into the site fine, it will just not let me open any of the targets is all...and actually see them.

Yes, those cards work really well. After you get sighted in, they make great free hand targets. You'd be surprised at how easy it is to miss one of those little cards just standing there free hand. I had friends over a while back and they thought at first I was kidding when I told them to put a hole in that card, free hand no rest at 50 yards....

cayugad - sounds like maybe you don't have Adobe Acrobat on your system. If you go to the gamecalls.net site, at the top of the page where the different targets are listed, there is a bracketed section where you can click and download Adobe Acrobat for free. (It says). Might work.

I created a target in Micro$oft Word that has a solid 1 inch black circle in the center and thin 1/2 inch grid with bold grid lines every inch out from the center. Just right click on the link and do a save as. http://home.earthlink.net/~finaddict/MyTarget.doc

This can be complicated it depends on range, how good a bench you have and whether you are using open sights or a scope. A 6" black bull seems to work good for open sights out to 100yds or so. You can shoot 100 or more yards with a sight in target if using a scope. The sight in targets I like the best have the inch gradian and 4 extra bulls on the corners of the target.

For work less than 80yds on a rifle that is already shooting good with open sights I like official 50' pistol targets. The bull is about 3" but all black and easy to see at that range.

I find I need a wide sharpie to fill in "sight in" targets I use with open sights at ranges over 50yds. I fill in the rings through the "8" and find it much easier to see.

I also don't like targets made with standard paper stock and prefere those made with a craft paper instead. The bullets punch through leaving a more defined hole.

Official NRA targets seem to work fine for most shooting but I love the Hoppies sight in targets.

Something else I use when I want to have a grid and several aiming dots is to use a 24x30 sheet with 1" grid lines that I bought at an office supply store. It comes in a tablet form with 50 pages and is meant to be used on a desk or a tripod display. I place orange target dots on it to give something to aim at, 1" dots for close range and 2" or 3" for further. Works great for a scope or open sights.

I meant to clarify that I'm using my target for 100 yds. open sights. I can barely see the 1 inch black circle in the center, but it is visible enough for me. It's a long shot, but for sighting in I really like it.

I shoot open sights too.I got a bunch of dots at walmart all different sizes.The big ones I use at 100 yards.I like the target site,I'll have some fun there.

I bought a new scope the other day from MidWay USA. It is a 3-9X40mm Sightron. Excellent clarity, and easy focus. It has a 4.6" eye relief on 3X and 3.6" on 9X so overall it is an impressive scope for the money. A long time ago I asked poster Triple Se7en his opinion on a good quality scope that was worth the money. He suggested a Sightron. Life time warranty. Anything breaks they replace the scope. Simple warranty I guess from that stand point.

Anyway this was sighting it in at 50 yards today (Sightron suggest sighting in at 50 yards) I knew the Wolverine II shot excellent with 85 grains of Goex 3f and a 240 grain T/C Mag Express XTP so as the target shows, I fired two to check the scope. Made a slight adjustment to make sure I was moving it the right way. Then a major adjustment on shot #4 and finally #5 & #6 were in the bull. After that I just had some fun shooting. The XTP's group a little high and to the left, then I shot some Barnes 250 grain .451XPB Causell Cannelure bullets in black high pressure Knight Sabots. They hit a little low, so I upped the charge to 100 grains of Goex 3f and brought them up some. I think with a little work these XPB's which are very close in design to the Barnes Expanders but cheaper, will make a good bullet.

Next stop is the 100 yard station for final adjustment of the scope.
