Where at 50/100?

I know only range work would accurately answer this but perhaps there are some Tradition Pursuit LT .50 caliber owners out there who might be using similiar loads/bullets. Using 100 gr. pyrodex (2 - 50 gr. pellets) and Hornady .240 XTP MAG's, if I sight in dead on the bull at 25 yds. any thoughts as to points of impact at 50 and 100 yds.?

This will give you an idea of the bullet path. The 240 grain XTP has a BC of .205 and a Sectional Density of .185. Sighted dead on at 25 yards the bullet will be dead on again at 125 yards. This was figured using the Ballistic Calculator at http://biggameinfo.com/BalCalc.aspx. At 50 yards it should be about an inch high. At 75 yards it should be 1.3 inches high, at 100 yards it should be around 1 inch high. You can figure the speed of the bullet around 1800 with that kind of charge.

figuring the projectile a different way, it suggest dead on at 25 yards, 0.8 at 50 yards, .07 at 75 yards, -0.3 at 100 yards and -2.2 at 125 yards. I would tend to believe this more so.

That ballistics calculator is pretty cool. However,I am a little confused on what to enter in the ballistic coefficient, and all of the 2nd column.

I have been shooting 2 50 grn APP sticks behind 295 hollow point powerbelts with open sites. I am dead on at 50 yrds with open sites. Any ideas of what to enter in that calculator as far as b.c. and the 2nd column for that load?

Curious where I would be at other ranges.

Thanks.

You could figure the diameter at .500, weight of course is 295and the BC at .186 the velocity of 100 grains would be approximately 1550 and it will figure the sectional density for you. The set the sight range at 50 and run the chart in 25 intervals... out to say 200 yards. That should show you the rise and drop of the projectile and also the energy of that holds in there for a long time.
