KDWP Muzzleloading Season

AnemailI received from a friend last week andI agree with his comment. Does most of the Muzzleloading community agree? I live in Kansas and the only thing that bothers me at my age, during"ML" season is the mosqueitos, and wearing extra clothing in hot weather is almost unbearable. Also the Quail hunters spook most of the big bucks. The start date is Sept. 10 through 23. Anyhow here is his email !!> -----Original Message-----

I must be the odd duck then. I like it being in September cause there is no hunting pressure here. I hunt early morning and evening when it is cooler. Course have to get right on cleaning one, but it's never been a problem. Dove hunters have never been a problem for me. I figure if they moved it to a later date...then we'd have other seasons to contend with. Don't understand why he's filling out an application. Can go right out to Wal-Mart and buy the tags anymore.

That's mostly our problem here in Missouri. We don't have to contend with warm weather at the end of Nov.-beginning of Dec., but the ML season here opens 3 days after the general firearms season has closed. Every deer in the state of MO has been chased for 11 days and then the muzzleloader hunters get to pick up the pieces after that! The ML season is almost over before the deer start to settle down again.

Sorry to hear thatMTT.Hope they keep ours like it is. Where bouts are you out of MTT? I was just over in the Park Hills area this weekend. Took the ole Sharps to play with...it was a little out of it's turf. :)Never saw so many trees in my life. Next time I'll keep it over here in the wide open where it's more at home.

Quigley, I'm from the northern part of MO, only about 25 miles from the Iowa line. We have some pretty impressive hunting up here, particularly turkey and deer. I'm just glad we have a ML season regardless of the time it falls though. In a perfect world, I'd like to see it open a couple weeks before the general firearms season. That would be too good to be true though. Oh well, one season is always going to mess up another season in the fall. Just too many critters to hunt I guess!:D
