Never say never
"I'll never ever sell a gun," right?.....Sound familiar? Well my wife bought me a Thompson Center Hawken Flintlock rifle for Christmas last year as a big surprise, which it was! BUT now I don't think I'll ever even shoot the darn thing and may put it up for sale. (SHE DOESN'T MIND) Any suggestions on what I should expect to get out of this new/unfired rifle? I think is was bought for a little over $400
Thanks! |
RE: Never say never
When I read never say never, I thought you had put a bullet down without powder first. I have no breech plug but haven't managed to do that one yet in four years. Everyone says eventually I will....

RE: Never say never
Actually, I agree. In fact, take it out and shoot it some. That will make her and you happy. You will probably even have some fun with it!

RE: Never say never
I would keep it. You would be very lucky to recover much more than half what she gave for the rifle. In-lines are in and I'm afraid sidelocks are not selling that well.

RE: Never say never
If you do want to get rid of it, you might do better trading it at a gun shop for something else. I had a T/C Whitemountain that was gathering dust for a while. I had paid $200 for it about 9 years ago. Put it in the paper for a while and didn't even get a single call. Everyone wants inlines now. I ended up trading it at a gunshop for a shotgun for my daughter. I got $125 for it.

RE: Never say never
I would keep it. You might want to pass it down to your children someday.
