i understand you cannot use pellets in a flintlock, makes sense. are you able to use loose powder in an inline? im new to all this and slowly learning. i dont see why it would be an issue. also i prefer the 777 loose powder as well as the 777 pellets, i have recently bought the pyrodex pellets and dont notice a difference is this ok?

I found two loads for my inline. Hornady's GPB with 80 gr. and their FPB in front of 90 gr. I use 777 powder for both. They both will do 2" groups at 100 yd. with open sights. I wouldn't think of going to pellets.

Also manufacturers say their rifles are capable of magnum loads but IMO that's a waste of powder. Your blowing unburned powder out the muzzle. I was shooting my .58 cal flintlock on Monday in the snow and I shoot 100 gr of Goex FFg. Even with that big bore there was unburned powder on top of the snow! So with a 50 cal there would be even more.
Today's muzzleloaders are capable of amazing accuracy. But each one has a favorite load. To me that's the fun in shooting them. Finding what they like the best. My one flintlock will shoot round balls accurately using olive oil as a patch lube, but switch to a different lube and the groups double in size or more!
In an inline you could get better, or worse accuracy just by changing primers, Definitely changing sabots or bullets.
