Default loose powder in an inline

i understand you cannot use pellets in a flintlock, makes sense. are you able to use loose powder in an inline? im new to all this and slowly learning. i dont see why it would be an issue. also i prefer the 777 loose powder as well as the 777 pellets, i have recently bought the pyrodex pellets and dont notice a difference is this ok?

In basically all aspects, except perhaps convenience, loose powder of any type (777, Pyrodex) is superior to its pelletized counterpart.

Default Loose powder

Have always used loose in old percussion and inlines. From 70 to 110 he. Goex,T7,and Swiss. Try all, see what works. Good luck.

I found two loads for my inline. Hornady's GPB with 80 gr. and their FPB in front of 90 gr. I use 777 powder for both. They both will do 2" groups at 100 yd. with open sights. I wouldn't think of going to pellets.

Jimmy loose powder has the advantages of being able to adjust your charges to find out what your rifle likes. And yes, like you were told, 100 grain in pellets (usually 2 - 50 gr) is approximately 90 gr of loose FFg (pyrodex RS).
Also manufacturers say their rifles are capable of magnum loads but IMO that's a waste of powder. Your blowing unburned powder out the muzzle. I was shooting my .58 cal flintlock on Monday in the snow and I shoot 100 gr of Goex FFg. Even with that big bore there was unburned powder on top of the snow! So with a 50 cal there would be even more.
Today's muzzleloaders are capable of amazing accuracy. But each one has a favorite load. To me that's the fun in shooting them. Finding what they like the best. My one flintlock will shoot round balls accurately using olive oil as a patch lube, but switch to a different lube and the groups double in size or more!
In an inline you could get better, or worse accuracy just by changing primers, Definitely changing sabots or bullets.

You might need to experiment with which primer works best, but black power will work in any muzzleloader, including inlines with 209 ignition.
