Semisane, If you want to be fair, as I do, that offhand target was made about May or June, way before the contest started. I don't care if it was shot according to all the rules. It was done only for my satisfaction and 'braggin rights'.
As soon as it stops raining and my gills dry out, I will shoot some more offhand targets with the .45, 50, and .54.

I need to post another target, but I rarely get to go to place where I can shoot offhand. Mine weren't in black b/c the scope wasn't zeroed as I had yet to work up this season's load. Shot 1&2 were about 1" but shot 3 fired before I was ready (my fault, obviously). Hopefully I'll get a chance before the season is over.

I'm going to shoot another one or two also 7.62NATO. But it won't be until the 17th. because I'm tied up with family stuff this weekend. Mine weren't in the black `cause I can't shoot offhand for squat.

Well today I decided to give it a whirl as well. And I have always claimed I am not an off hand shooter. One reason I have a walking/shooting stick.
The rifle was a White .451 with a 2-7 Bushnell Elite 3200 scope. I thought that the scope would help. Boy was I wrong. But anyway, the powder was 70 grains of Triple Seven 3f and the conical bullet was a 460 grain No Excuses .451 conical.
To make sure the scope was on, I took three off the bench rest.
I would say the scope was not going to be the reason for the embarrassment.
I tried three different times and marked the hits by attempt. I tried two different methods of doing this that we the forum have discussed. And decided I want to carry my shooting sticks or make sure a tree is handy.

That's not a total disgrace Cayugad. In fact, group #2 is might fine offhand shooting. But I know what you mean about looking for a handy tree.
