New Mexico Unit 16A......help!!
 

After hunting whitetail deer most of my life I had the opportunity to hunt elk in Colorado with some friends several years ago. I have drawn a couple cow tags and got hooked. This year I put in for and drew a mature bull tag in NM 16A. I booked the hunt with US Outfitters. I am looking for any feed back I can get on this hunting unit and on US Outfitters guiding and outfitting service. In reading through some of the posts, I see some negative comments about USO. Give it to me straight guys, I 've got an expensive hunt lined up and I want to make sure I get the best experience I can for my money..Suggestions???

Hey dude..do us a favor !!and tell us your sucess :did you hunt private land or national forest,to get your bull?outfitters know the hot spots which "us" hope to bag a big one some day .16-A is very good I`ve hunted there the last two yrs. with the bow around snow lake area lots of hunters ,if you hunt in the back woods they will find them for you ,thats there job!so post there hot spot. us foot hunters need some good luck.....

I heard good if you are a client. Bad if you are a guide who worked for them or a average joe who hunts in the same public land. I suppose all the guides are not like the one i came across. I went out there with a friend and saw some AWSOME bulls. not a whole lot but a few huge 7x7 to boot. My buddy came back with a 260 bull. saw many bigger but we were there the first season and all the good water holes are hogged up by the outfitters. I wont tell you were we were, because you are going with USO, thats there job, but in reality your on public land and you could have did just as good without them, and hunted more days. But then again because of USO you wont draw a tag going by yourself because they feel they have more right to be on that federal land than the average joe does and lobbied to hog most of the nonres tags.
