elk tag and bear tag ?
 

Can you buy an over the counter bear tag during the first rifle elk season in colorado?kinda read it both ways, and my buddy and i having a friendly disagreement over it anybody here know.

Pretty sure you can buy the bear tag for the first season. You can have an elk tag for the 1st season & buy a bear tag for the 2nd season. They have to be in the same season, unless you have an archery or black powder elk tag---then you can buy a bear tag for whichever season. The reason is stop a guy from trying to fill his wife's elk tag while he is carrying a bear tag.

You can buy an over-the-counter bear tag for any season and unit in which you already hold an elk or deer tag. Not a bad idea if you are so inclined. We are freakin' infested with bear right now. They keep tearing up the dumpsters and trash cans here around my office at the ski area nearly every night. Was out scouting elk and hunting grouse on Sunday, and came across a steamin' heap 'o bear dung in the middle of a trail. ...Made the dog a little sketchy...
