Found the Elk
 

After stalking down the mountains here in NW Montana with my bow in hand I had started calling useing my cow call as I was working down the mountain and at the 3,000 ft elev., I made a seris of calls as I got a response from a cow immediately and off to the right a bull was calling that sounded like it had a cold and never did scream but did made an attempt. It was 4:30 PM and I was at the river bottom with high cliffs on each side, I did see a couple cows mosey up the other side of the revene as I had the wind in my favor. I decided not to persue them being so late and will be back there at 5:00 a.m. to get the bull as I am takeing my girlfriend in there too, and work the revene bottom and the winds to our atvantage. It is her first year bowhunting and cows are legal dureing archery. I am tired now, got to go, I just had to share my excitement. Later, Bobby

I'm startin' to shake! Hunted outside of Missoula and understand the tired part. Hope that low barkin' big boy is there this morning and has his harem for your girlfreind. Let us know how you did and stick'em deep.

Oh man, for the past week they been around us but being in them and getting a shot off are two different things. Sometimes I have been getting sidetrack in hunting some nice class white-tails in the same area. The bulls seem to have gone quiet since the weekend warriors came out and bumped them. It is still early in the season as it is the peak of the rut. I have fresh rubs as high as I can reach with fresh droppings all over,as I am hunting in some aspens along some burns.
