The Nolser partition is never a bad choice. Federal's 160 grain Premium--Nolser Partition. Good Luck.

I can't add anything to the great advice given here - except to have a great hunt.

I know you dont need a 175 grain premium bullet for elk but it will sure put them down alot faster.

Not sure if they still make em, but I used to reload the 150gr. sierra grand slams for my 270 weatherby. Shot great and retain a lot of energy downrange.

I had a 7mm mag one year and killed a rag horn bull with it,I was using 160 Nosler Part.,shot was about 250 yds,1 shot he ran maybe 20 yds and pilled up.Straight through and left a exit of about the size of a baseball.

I used to use 160 gr partitions from Federal. Now I handload 150 gr partitions. Both work great out of my rifle.

I esxpect it to be a lot slower due to the delayed expansion.

you really can't go wrong with the rem corelocks if they shoot well for you. gun tests magazine ranked them very good in their tests. i have used the nosler partitions and they are also great.
