Spotting Scopes Advice on Bushnell
I'm on the lookout for a spotting scope.
Want to be able to spot game up to 2 miles away, and be able to do trophy assessment from around a mile or less.
The model I'm looking at is Bushnell Trophy 20-60 X 63mm
It's light (20 oz) waterproof and rubber coated.
Price $218.
Anyone know anything about this brand/model.
Or any recommendations in the price range.
Thanks

Burris Landmark Spotting Scope comes in 20-60 X 80 it weights 42 oz. (1.19 kg.) $249.99 through www.basspro.com . It may be a little heavy to be hauling around for a couple miles, but Burris has better optics in my opinion. Good luck.

Whenit comes to opticsto sit and spy with, plan on spending some bucks. Ihad a bushnell, was poor, but whatI could afford atthe time, and wish I had spent my money elsewhere.
Now I own a scope from Nikon, as good as it gets for my eyes, ran around 500 if I remember right. Think about this also, high magnification sounds good, but in reality, there is alot of dust, haze, humidity even at high elevations, soe lower power settings like 20 to 30x really work better. Also a fixed power at 20 to 30 has better optical qualities than any zoom set up.
Bottom line, save for a better unit, look at all of themthen either save for what will work or settle on cheap.

I have a Burris landmark and a bushnell . They work fine on the range but I bought a leupold for hunting . If I had just bought a good scope in the first place I would have been ahead . A friend setup his Leupold and my burris and then told me to try them . no comparision like night to day .

I agree with Halcon,
I was at a show on the weekend and went through almost every model of spotting scope Bushnell has. They range in price from $150 to $1500 Canadian Dollars. For the range any one would do and perform well but for spotting long distances that's where the big dollars pay off. The increased clarity is amazing, its just tough to justify spending all that money.
I actually decided on the Spacemaster multipositional 20-60X60 myself but the trophy is a better model because its waterproof, the optics are very similar.
Good luck on your choice.

I also have the Leupold 12-40x60mm spotting scope and love it! And btw, its not 1000 bucks and its one of the lighter more quality spotting scopes on the market. Their is others close for a better price, but I havent seen one better, with better customer service!
the difference between a 14" antelope buck and a 15.5"er could just be that scope!

Thanks for replies esp. Colowolf. I know what you mean about the distance haze thing. Am interested to know more about Nikon as well.
