WY ANTELOPE HUNTING AREAS
 

I just found this forum last week; I think it could become addictive.
I'm going to apply for a Wyoming antelope tag and I'm looking for advice. I'm interested in antelope hunt areas 60-69 and 91-96 based on opening dates and public access. Any info, comments, or opinions on these or other areas would be helpful.

60 through 69? Or 60 and 69? 68 and 69 have lots of antelope, good access. There is a neat spot south of Moneta, about 28 miles, called Castle Gardens. If you draw and hunt near there be sure to drive over and look at it. The 60-69 areas are not known for trophy antelope but numbers are good, and we have haveing another mild winter. Just to dry! Check the draw odds to help you determine and area. Hardest part is drawing.

Also if you never have, make a drive through the Wind River canyon. If your hunting in that area.

Just yesterday I drove from Denver to Billings on I-25. I have made that drive about a dozen times, but have never seen so many antelope. From Casper to Sheridan I counted over sixty groups/herds within easy eyesight of the interstate.

I'm thinking I should put in for tags and find out about public land along that stretch. You say draw odds for nons are not good?

I was also wondering if I was seeing a random sampling of antelope, or if something draws them toward the interstate and it was unusually populated.

The sightings stopped at about the Montana border. Only one group sighted from there to Billings.

No, just to draw is for everyone. For instance the area I love to hunt the odds of me drawing are about 1 in 5. Some areas are 50/50 but I don't hunt there. Some ares are 100% in eastern WY. But lots of private land and you need to find a place to hunt. Not always hard but can be difficult and costly.

Not sure why you seen so many antelope on that stretch. I have driven it many times to. It might be forage, greenup, and they do migrate, not sure.
