And what grain 30-06 are you guys using?I always use Federal by the way.

this is how I do my moose and now almost all my game in Alaska! Its an elk but its the same concept.....cheap game bags WONT due get the heavy duty cloth version, reusable. The cheese cloth will tear and wont keep the bugs out.

I use bear claw 165 grains, shoots the best out of my Remington 700 mountain rifle.

Never tried it but heard its better to quarter a moose around the guts then to try and take them out, just avoid cutting the sack around them and bone the rest out. Just what I hear, never got a moose or elk yet.

look at that site Pa...thats exactly the way you mention and I have mentioned a few times on here and how I 99% of my game now! If its legal, its the only way to fly!!!

Gut it like a deer..It's just a tad bigger!<img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle> Make sure you have a saw to get through the ribs. I also use 30-06. I took my Maine moose in 99 with 180 grain bullet.

Titan, the method Lilhunter desribes is on a video at the Ak. Department of Fish and Game. You can buy it from them. I just picked one up yesterday from the Alaska outdoor council. If you want more info about getting one e-mail me at [email protected].

better yet, let me get my film developed. I killed a bull this morning and we took some photos. Its a smaller bull, not much larger than that elk...ok so its a tad larger lol. I'll postem when I get them!

I do elk a lot and the bone cutting if I don't have an atv is the only small issue. An Alaska boy told me he takes an 18 volt dewalt reciprocating saw to do a quick job on moose. When gutting just feel your way around to loosen the pile and be careful to cut around the anus and organs from the outside and pull them through with the guts and don't cut through anything. Hope you score a trophy.

Im with moosehunter. I cant find a legal bull to save my life. What unit did that bull come from? It dont have three brow tines and its more than a fork, and it dont look like 50in. Either way, a big congrats on the bull. lamar.

I know their out there. I seen 'em all summer too! They all disappeared come august bowhunt and did'nt come back. I'll be going out for three more days this weekend again. I also figured you were in a non restricted area. Just wondered where. Congrats again. Hope I'll be filling my tag soon.
