Two more piles within ten feet of the first two days in a row. And still no ID on the critter. This is important to me like other topics are important to others RonM. Steve.

MossyHead:
You are not alone in this. Most avid hunters, especially those who hunt a wide variety of species, are students of scat.

It is the droppings that allow us a glimpse into an animals diet and health, often providing clues as to where they've recently been as well.

Have you thought of creating some mud around the food source, so that you can capture tracks?

It sounds like bear to me, but like ABM said a trail cam would tell ya for sure.
Or like than said mud or Sand around the area will give you a nice view of a print.

One other way to know for sure is to put out some doughnuts and cover them with some logs that only a bear could move and that would be a sure way of narrowing it down.

I can't help to think it has to be a bear if it was a goat you would be able to see hoof prints. a bear(black bear) walks lightly and doesn't leave much for prints except in the sand and mud.
