I shoot Remingtons 180 GR. Noslers out of mine and do just fine on both Elk and Deer.

A nosler partiton is good, as it the accubond, or the swift scirrocco is another good all around bullet. As far as the cheapest well nothing about the .300 RUM is cheap. I reload and shoot the nosler accubond, if I didn't reload I couldn't afford to shoot the gun.

180 grain Nosler Partition. It will do it all. I have not checked the price but I buy some ammo at Midway USA.

Cheap would not be the way to go on a hunting bullet. Stick with the tried and true bullets. Spend a little extra for the piece of mind it will bring you knowing that the bullet stayed together and did fatal damage.
Try and save money elsewhere for your hunting not the main tool.
After all the animal isn't going to care if you have cheap boots, tent or sleeping bag. Put all your fun tickets into your firearm. You and the animal will be glad you did.;)

I shoot the .338 RUM and am a huge fan of the Speer A Frame bullets. I also hear good things about the Nosler Partition. Why buy a gun made to shoot consistently at 300 yards then use cheap bullets that don't provide optimal resutls? Seems like defeating the purpose of the rifle to me.

If price is that important, stay away from the ultramags. There isn't much point in owning one except for longer distance shooting and being accurate at long distance requires a lot of practise. As a result the cost is substancial if you don't reload.Besides that the 300ultramag factory loads are so mild that they don't gain much over the 300winmag.

When I say cheap I want the best price I can find on a quality bullet.I just bought a Leupold Mark 4 LR/T 6.5-20X50 M1 Mil Dot Tactical scope for $660 brand new ,that was cheap but it's not a cheap scope.I'm just looking for some quality ammo at the best price I can get.I like to shoot long range,I shoot bowling pins at 500 yards with my Ferret50 50bmg for practice.

Thanks Jim

I shoot 180 and 200 grain nosler partitions made by Remington but they no longer make them so I'll probably switch to Federals I think they offer 200 nosler partitions the reason Remington dropped the noslers because of their core lock ultras
