Hey Weasel, you hunt til you drop. I see a guy out here every year, must be 150 years old. His kids put him out in a chair every morning and pick him up about 10:00. He gets his elk every year. NEVER too old.

RE: anyone else wanting to elk hunt this fall ??
Too old for the type of hunting I like to do anyway. Oh, actually, my Dad is in good enough shape, he killed a 250 P&Y class 6x6 the year we went together and just doesn't have a great desire to go back and hunt that hard again.
I am going to put in for my deer, elk and antelope PP again this year and wait until next year to go. I think this fall would be awesome, and who knows, OTC archery ,maybe, but I'll plan to do my Kansas whitetail hunt (if I draw) and a few weekends with Dad and be happy with that. I have a nice 300 class 5x6 on my wall, and a couple of other bulls, so its not like I haven't experienced it. I just think elk hunting is the hardest hunting I have ever done, because of the country they live in, which to top it all of is God's country at its finest. I've heard sheep hunting gets in your blood, I imagine its a lot like elk hunting except harder and more breathtaking.

What part of Colorado do you normally hunt in? I have mostly hunted near Glenwood Springs but am excited about the Durango area for this year. It has some really gorgeous country. Seeing the country, listening to bugling bulls and seeing golden aspen trees is about 80% of the trip for me. Good luck wherever you hunt this year.

I have the chance to go on a muzzleloader elk hunt in Wemenuche wilderness this year, IF I DRAW! Do I have a chance to draw m/l tag with NO preference points? what units does the Wemenuche encompass? any advice is appreciated!

Drawn a Ballot for Fiordland Wapiti. (Elk)
Mount Longsight Block. (Coastal.)
Will hunt from a base tent camp. Fly in by helicoptor with a 3.5M inflatable boat on board. Move around by boat, and maybe do a couple of overnight inland trips
They are getting rare down there, but still the odd good one sneeking about.
Tough hunting conditions, wet, wild, remote, steep, bush clad.
7th time down there for me.
Season here is Mid March to End April.
Heading out 11th April until 22nd April.
Gearing up the chopper boat etc.
Here's hoping for good weather and a nice big 6X6 (300+)
Also the side attractions of Fishing, hopefully find a couple of lazy big browns (Trout) and catch a few cod and groper in the sea.
The crayfish(lobster) and Paua (Abalone.) will just top it all off.
I'm getting hungry already.
Almost sounds too good to be true.
Will post a few pics after the event.
